The world is in a lockdown. If you are living in Delhi – you can’t miss what this lockdown has done to the environment here. Never had the sun shine brighter than the way it is shining these days. Air feels pure and without a smell it used to be. Birds are endlessly chirping and singing – as if they have got a new life. Stars are back in the night sky – I haven’t seen these many stars in Delhi’s night sky since years. It was hard to imagine if we could get back this fresh air or stars in the night. It took nature just a handful of days to heal itself – a number of days that you can count on the fingers of one hand. Canals in Venice in Italy have never been this clean in years. Major global cities are seeing unprecedented drop in air pollution and improvement in air AQI levels. This is what the lockdown has done.
Lessons from the Lockdown
Nature heals itself. Just give it a break and it will heal itself.In fact nature is designed to constantly heal itself. Delhi’s pollution didn’t get cleaned by the air purifiers government has installed at a few places in the city. Nature purified itself when we stopped polluting it anymore. In reality nature is constantly healing itself. Similarly when you get a cut on your hand – what happens ? After sometimes you can see the stitches on the cut. Your body is part of this magnificent nature and it has the power to heal itself. The cut is healed by itself. We are part of this incredible mother nature.
This is what happens when you stop eating junk food for a few days – or when you fast. Your body gets time to heal itself. When you are fasting – your body doesn’t need to spend its energy in digestion but it can spend the same energy to remove the pollution which is already there in your body and detoxifies it. What is this pollution in the body ? The bad cholesterol, the formation of stone, blockages in your blood circulation, mucus in your throat, the white layer in your tongue, the toxins stuck in your various body parts. Now you know what can clean this internal pollution in your body – the lockdown. Give your stomach some regular lockdown periods and it will do miracles for your body. The body will rejuvenate by itself.
If you regularly eat junk fast food, highly processed, packaged, sugary, not natural or food with artificial flavours or if you eat in quantities much more than what your body needs – you should go for lockdown of your stomach to let it clean itself of the toxins and to let your body heal. Not just fasting, even intermittent fasting can do many wonders in cleaning your body and in keeping it healthy.
Lockdown For Your Mind
And not just for your stomach – a lock down for your mind can also do miraculous wonders for you. If you feel constant anxiety, negativity or stress – chances are you are taking in a lot of mental pollution. Most of the times more than the situation in your life your thoughts create this anxiety and stress. Lockdown for your mind – that is stopping the stream of thoughts for some time will heal the anxiety by itself. This will not just relieve you of your stress but will also bring in clarity and joy. This lock down is what you call meditation. You must have seen – whenever your mind gets a break from its stream of thoughts – for example when you are listening to good music, when you are looking at a beautiful flower or when you get a good deep sleep – your mind refreshes itself and you feel joy. That is your natural state and not the one which is full of anxiety. Your mind deserves a regular lockdown from news, social media junk and other chaotic, negative mental pollution. Give it the healing power of meditation regularly and you will be more joyous and clear.
We aren’t different from nature. We are the part of the nature itself, we are its sons and daughters. Lets live the way nature intended us to.
